About Queenie

Music has always been central to my life. It defines who I am. I began singing in public at the age of four in children’s shows and talent contests singing show songs and popular hits. Later I became involved in the folk and blues revival and sung unaccompanied ballads in the clubs before joining with a variety of electric folk bands including Witch Hazel and Plankton.

I have always had an eclectic taste in music and have explored a range of musical genres, fronting various outfits and experimenting with  all styles from soft rock,  punk, soul, blues, pop, funk and jazz to R n B , rock and roll, show tunes, gospel and some classical. Some of the bands I have played with include Night Mover,  Full Circle, The Soul Banned, Diva, The Red Hot Brickies , Mama Boss, Front and Long Tall Sally.

My most recent venture with Cool Connection has taken me back to my jazz and blues roots  by mixing the sophisticated melodies of  popular standards with the contemporary, cool sounds of modern lyricists. I  love the challenge of  connecting  with new songs and interpreting the lyrics of established artists; I also enjoy writing and composing original material and experiencing the cool feeling of going live for the first time with a new song. It’s cool and connected.
